What is Call Note?
Call Note is an application for the iPhone that helps you make a quick file note, field note or email log entry about your important phone calls.
How do I buy it?
iPhone applications are purchased and downloaded exclusively through the iPhone App Store in Apple iTunes. Call Note has been submitted to Apple for review and should appear on the App Store in the near future.
Why did you create Call Note?
We initially developed Call Note to allow us to roster our after hours support calls around the team. We don’t get many after hours support calls, so there is not a full time job for anybody, but this way we can take a call, make a quick note and email it off to our support email address for logging, issue tracking and eventual billing. We found that it was also useful for making a quick note regarding important calls to do with project management too; such as when a client calls to give the “go ahead” and we need to get that on the record.
Can I send my Call Note to the person I’ve just spoken with?
Yes. If the caller’s email address is saved in your contacts list then you will have the option to cc the Call Note email to the caller.
Can I email my Call Note to anyone?
Yes. The first time you use Call Note you can set a default address, or this can be changed for each note just before the message is sent if you so desire.
Can I email my Call Note to more than one person?
Yes. You can add as many default addresses as you like or add additional addresses in the email just before the message is sent.
Why is the green send button disabled when I’m ready to send my Call Note email?
There are two bits of information that need to be included in each Call Note email to ensure it makes sense; who the caller was and what the issue discussed was. Check that both of these have been added before trying to send the message.
What if I make a mistake, do I have a chance to change what I’ve written?
Yes. After you’ve entered all the information about your call, Call Note takes you to a summary screen ”Ready to send?” so that you can confirm the details before you send the email.
How about if I want to cancel the whole Call Note message I’ve written?
When you get to the summary screen click on the “Forget it” button to delete what you have written.
Can I change my settings?
Yes. Use the cog button in the top left corner of the first screen “When?” to open up the default settings screen.
How do I change my list of common issues or responses?
When you open up Call Note use the cog button in the top left corner of the first page “When?” to move to the settings page. From here if you tap Common Issues or Common Responses you will be able to add, delete, reorder or modify your list using the Edit button in the top right corner.
Can Call Note open up automatically when I hang up a phone call?
No. At this time it is not possible for apps using the official iPhone SDK and distributed through iTunes to listen for phone call events, such as a hang up or call end.
Can Call Note access my iPhone’s call history to get the details of the person I just spoke with?
No. At this time it is not possible for apps using the official iPhone SDK and distributed through iTunes to access the call history.
What happens if I receive a call while I’m logging my last call, will Call Note remember what I’ve written?
Yes. Call Note saves the information as you go, so if you accept a phone call before you have finished logging your last call, the next time you use Call Note it will open up where you left off.
